Wellness Wednesdays – The Intersection of Faith, Spirituality, and Peer Support
St. James Cathedral’s Mental Health Wellness Ministry and the Archdiocese of Seattle Mental Health Ministry are sponsoring Wellness Wednesdays, a monthly educational forum featuring professionals from various mental health disciplines speaking on topics of interest.
Gabriel Hamilton – Apprentice at the SPARK (Students Providing And Receiving Knowledge) Peer Learning Center. Co-Youth Tri-Lead for the Statewide FYSPRT (Family Youth System Partner Round Table).
Biography: Hello, my name is Gabriel Hamilton. I have been in the peer field for around five years. What brought me to this work and why I love it so much is the ability to help others whose plans just aren’t working for one reason or another. Instead of letting them try to figure it out all by themselves, I love giving a hand and an ear to listen so we can come up with a plan together for success for the youth and their family. I also love helping hold the hope and seeing that spark reignite in someone when they have found the path through the door they chose, and realizing they have choices instead of a single path to recovery.
*Cole Devlin – Child and Family Therapist: Intensive Services (WISe) at the Y Social Impact Center. Co-Youth Tri-Lead for the King County FYSPRT, also known as the King County Community Collaborative (KC3). Co-President of the Board for the SPARK Peer Learning Center.
Biography: Cole Devlin, CPC, MSW, LSWAIC is a lifelong Seattleite who is passionate about leading through his lived experience and serving his communities. His journey in the field of behavioral health started as a client before he became a youth peer counselor and eventually a therapist doing Wraparound work. Cole acknowledges his privilege in being a Masters-educated peer with leadership positions, but he is open about his desire to use his positionality to create opportunities for others. Whether you’re talking about equity efforts or the Seattle Mariners, Cole would love to talk and make a connection when possible.
