Tenth Annual Catholic Immigration Summit
All are welcome to join us for the Tenth Annual Catholic Immigration Summit on October 3 at Seattle University. The summit is co-sponsored by the Archdiocese of Seattle, Center for Migration Studies, Hope Border Institute and Seattle University Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture.
This day-long gathering will focus on key issues related to the pastoral care of immigrant communities. Discussion topics include:
- The Catholic Church’s teachings on immigration, enforcement, and the dignity of the human person
- “Know your rights” guidance
- Strategies for accompanying and supporting immigrant families
- Thoughtful approaches to public events and public witness
- Effective communications strategies
- The celebration of Mass
New this year is a strategic collaboration with the Catholic Immigrant Prophetic Action Project. Catholic IMMpact is a partnership between the Center for Migration Studies of New York and the Hope Border Institute in El Paso, TX to assist the Catholic Church in the United States in organizing a robust response with and for migrants and refugees in the country who are living in fear of immediate deportation. Through organizing, communications, research and rapid response, Catholic IMMpact supports (arch)dioceses in their mission to preach the Gospel and walk with immigrants.
