WHAT IS THE WAY OF THE CROSS?
The Way of the Cross is a meditative walking procession in which a group follows someone holding a cross, stopping periodically to listen to gospel readings, choral pieces, and contemporary passages by authors such as Charles Peguy and Paul Claudel. The purpose of this gesture of Christian faith is for our hearts to be reawakened to the beauty and sorrow of Good Friday and to enter more fully, together, into the experience of the Triduum.
This event is sponsored by Communion and Liberation, an ecclesial lay movement started by Servant of God Fr. Luigi Giussani, who began this tradition with college students in Caravaggio, Italy.
