Mass and Enthronement of Our Lady Aparecida, Patroness of Brazil

Join the Brazilian Catholic Community of St. John Mary Vianney as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Aparecida, Patroness of Brazil. This special evening offers an opportunity to come together in prayer, honor Our Blessed Mother, and share in the rich faith and traditions of the Brazilian Catholic community.

The celebration begins with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., followed by Mass in Portuguese at 7:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Maximiliano. After Mass, Fr. Brad Hagelin will bless and enthrone an image of Our Lady of Aparecida in the church, marking a meaningful moment for our community and creating a lasting place of devotion for all who visit.

Devotion to Our Lady of Aparecida began in 1717 when a small image of the Blessed Virgin Mary was discovered by fishermen in Brazil’s Paraíba River. Over the centuries, she has become a powerful symbol of faith, hope, and unity for millions of Catholics throughout Brazil. Each year on October 12, her feast day is celebrated across the country as Catholics gather to seek her intercession and honor her maternal care.

This celebration is especially significant as we welcome this sacred image into our parish church. It is a beautiful opportunity for Brazilian Catholics to celebrate an important part of their faith and heritage while inviting the wider Catholic community of Western Washington to share in this cherished devotion.

Following the blessing and enthronement, all are invited to continue the celebration with fellowship and refreshments in the parish hall.
