Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience
Experience the 2-hour interactive Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage guided by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality, North American Volunteers, the first Lourdes Hospitality of the Americas.
Hosted by Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seattle on August 23 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall.
Lourdes, France is famous for the 1858 apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a young peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous. The Mother of God identified herself as “the Immaculate Conception.” She told Bernadette, “Penance, penance, penance; pray for sinners.” She asked for a chapel to be built and for people to come in procession. At her direction to “Go, drink and wash,” Bernadette uncovered a spring in the grotto cave. Soon, miraculous cures were attributed to this spring water; 70 are declared miracles. Lourdes has become well-known as a holy place of pilgrimage and prayer since 1862 when the bishop declared the faithful “justified in believing the reality of the apparition.”

Not everyone can travel to Lourdes, but the Virtual Pilgrimage can make it possible to experience this same peace and healing, and even the opportunity to receive a plenary indulgence! In about 2 hours, a day on pilgrimage is recreated using projections, narration, a Eucharistic blessing, and prayer (including candlelight rosary.) As part of this prayerful visit to the Grotto, pilgrims touch actual pieces of the grotto rock, and leave with a deeper understanding of the Message of Lourdes, as well as a small bottle of Lourdes Water to remember their journey.
