Listening to God’s Voice: A Call to Action – Silent Retreat
with Father Michael Joyce, O.Carm – 4th Councilor and Vocation Director, Province of the Pure Heart of Mary

Drawing upon the rich Carmelite tradition of following the model of the Prophet Elijah, i.e., listening to God’s voice in silence and acting on God’s voice in the world, Father Mike will guide retreatants through various forms of Carmelite prayer to help them discern God’s voice amongst the cacophony of noise in our lives. We will reflect on who we are, who we want to be, and who God calls us to be. This retreat affords one the opportunity to step back from the business of one’s life and embrace the healing gift of simply being. It is only when we stop talking that we can begin to listen. Once we hear, we are called to act.

• This retreat is intended for Carmelites and those discerning a call to Carmel.
• This is not a strict “silent retreat”. Sharing and community building will be encouraged in the dining room and conference room. Other parts of the retreat center will be considreed intentionally quiet spaces for prayer and reflection.
• Check-in time is anywhere between 3:00pm-5:00pm.
• The retreat concludes on Sunday at 1:00pm, after lunch.
