Concert in Celebration of Día de Muertos

Celebrate Día de Muertos at St. James Cathedral with the music of Orquesta Northwest, followed by hot cocoa and pan de Muerto (traditional Mexican sweet bread) in the Cathedral Courtyard.

Día de Muertos is part of the three-day triduum dedicated to remembering the dead.
Oct. 31: Halloween (All hallows eve) is the vigil of All Hallows Day (All Saint’s Day).
Nov. 1: All Saints’ Day is a feast day observing the lives of the many saints for whom there is no specific feast day during the year.
Nov 2: Día de Muertos marks a day of prayer for, and remembrance of, the “faithfully departed”. Also known as All Souls’ Day or Day of the Dead, it is a tradition rooted in Mexican culture that honors the deceased and celebrates their lives with music, dance and food.

Honor those who have passed away by placing a photo of your deceased loved one on the St. James Cathedral Chapel Altar de Muertos from Nov. 3 – Nov. 8.

This concert is free of charge and open to all with a reservation.
