Convivium on Dante’s Divine Comedy
The Office for the Vicar General is sponsoring a rare opportunity for Continuing Formation and fellowship at the Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center at the Palisades: A “Convivium” (“banquet”) of presentations and discussion on Dante’s Divine Comedy, presented by Fr. Stephen Rowan of the Archdiocese of Seattle.
The “convivium” is a four day event from August 4 to 7 and is limited to priests, deacons, and lay ecclesial ministers (anyone who serves in ministry for the Church), with no previous experience of Dante’s Comedy required. The text we will use is Mark Musa’s translation of the Comedy (Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso), a Penguin paperback edition. The text comes with helpful diagrams, a glossary and notes. It will be important to have the text at hand for reference during presentations and for reading between sessions.
