Father, eternal shepherd,
hear the prayers of your people for your servant Benedict,
who governed your Church with love.

He faithfully administered the mysteries
of your forgiveness and love on earth;
may he rejoice with you forever in heaven.

He was servant and teacher of the Church,
and did the work of Christ on earth;
may Christ welcome him into eternal glory.

He was appointed high priest of the flock;
may he be counted among the priests
in the life of your kingdom.

He was an instrument of your peace and love for the human family;
receive him in your love, and grant him eternal peace,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
