Journey to Renewal: Young Adult Lenten Retreat

Do you need a space for renewal and reflection this Lent?

Join young adults across Western Washington on a Lenten journey centered around the themes of Pope Francis’ Lenten message, “Lent: a Time for Renewing Faith, Hope and Love.” Kelly Hickman will lead us through the morning reflection from 9:30am-11:30am PST, via Zoom. The retreat will incorporate periods off Zoom and offer optional activities for prayer and reflection in the afternoon. Thus, we encourage you to set time apart (on your own or with your household).

The morning reflection will include simultaneous interpretation into Spanish, and materials will be available in both English and Spanish.

In the afternoon, we are offering the opportunity for participants to visit Camp Don Bosco, between 1 and 6pm. You will receive the link to RSVP to the optional camp visit once you register for the retreat. There will be no gathering, communal meals, or group activities. The intention of the in-person portion of the retreat is to allow for people to have some time away, go for a walk or hike, and have a chance to have quiet prayer in an open space. The chapel will be open for prayer as well, one household at a time. People will be required to wear masks. Those who do not belong to the same household will be asked to maintain physical distancing. Those who participate in the in-person portion will need to fill a pre-screening questionnaire on the day of the retreat (you will receive this by email). Families are welcome!
There is no fee to attend this retreat, but in the spirit of Lent, we encourage you to consider donating to CRS Rice Bowl. You can donate here.

About the Retreat Facilitator: Kelly Hickman

Kelly Hickman, MATS (she/her) served as the Assistant Director of the Missions Office of the Archdiocese of Seattle from 2011-2019, working to educate and inspire Catholics and people of goodwill to meaningful, faith-filled action. She holds a Master’s degree in Transforming Spirituality from Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry. Kelly is a third generation Seattleite who grew up in north Seattle at St. Matthew Parish. She serves with the St. Edward, Seattle St. Vincent de Paul Conference as the Spiritual Advisor, and is a member of the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Chapter at  Christ Our Hope and St. Patrick Parishes in Seattle.
